Davis Cromer

Davis Cromer, 82, of Ward, South Carolina was born on August 26, 1940, and met his Heavenly Father on July 20, 2023.

Davis, or "Papa C" as he was known to so many was the son of the late James Luther and Elliot Ellen "Ellie" Rodgers Cromer. He will forever be remembered for his love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his love and devotion to family, his incredible patience with all and everything as well as his impeccable work ethic.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Johnson Cromer; sons Denver (Bridget) and Trenton (Jodie); two grandchildren, K.D. Adaire and Davis; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Davis was preceded in death by his brothers, James "Jr." Cromer, and Robert Cromer and sisters, Matilda Clary, Myrtle Rhodes, Christine Berry and Fannie Mae Hall.

Davis graduated Ridge Spring-Monetta High School in 1958 and 5 weeks later entered the US Army where he served 3 years and was honorably discharged on July 7, 1961. He worked for the Savannah River Plant 34 years in the electrical department and retired in 1995.

He was a member of Richland Springs Baptist Church since 1956 where he served as a deacon, worked on the sound team, assisted with the RAs, and the list goes on. He was also a Member of the Masons and a past Master of Hampton Lodge 134.

Davis had a passion for antique tractors and was a member of the Richland Creek Antique Power Association. He was a rare example of someone who lived out his life on the same land where he was born. Davis loved his "homestead" and spent countless hours with his family creating his own corner of peaceful paradise.

Active pallbearers will be: Tim Rodgers, Lang Rodgers, Luke Berry, Tommy Berry, Steve Hall, and David Clary and Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Cromer, Wayne Mitchell, Glenn Shumpert and Joey Hall.
