Christine Crouch Shealy
Christine Crouch Shealy, 102, died November 23, 2022 at her home.
Born October 2, 1920 in Saluda, SC, and a daughter of the late Henry Matthew Crouch, Sr. and Jessie Hughes Crouch, she was the wife of the late Julius Blandon Shealy, Sr. During World War II, Mrs. Shealy was a clerk of the Rationing Board and Office of Price Administration. She was also clerk of the Selective Service System during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and later retired from the Department of Social Services. She was a member of Saluda Presbyterian Church, where she served as a teacher, treasurer and elder.
Surviving are two sons, Russell Shealy (Sara) of Clemson and Eddie Shealy (Mendee) of Batesburg, a son in-law, James Leopard of Pageland, six grandchildren, Tucker Shealy (Mandy) of Mt. Pleasant, Brittany Shealy of Greer, Patrick Shealy (Courtney) and Grant Shealy (Loren) both of Batesburg, Angie Davis (Tony) and Amy Hurst (Tyler) both of Pageland, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and three special caregivers, Tura Abney, Nancy Herlong and Gayle Boozer.
Mrs. Shealy was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Leopard, two brothers, Roger Crouch, Sr. and Henry Crouch, four sisters, Katie Sedell, Rachel Kauffmann, Aliene Sample and Elma Goddard, infant son, Julius B. Shealy, Jr. and infant daughter, Jocelyn Leigh Shealy.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Saluda Presbyterian Church with Rev. Emily Mooneyhan officiating. Interment will follow in Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall.
