Gladys Padgett Amick

ROEBUCK, SC— Gladys Padgett Amick, 97, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023 at the Spartanburg Regional Health System Hospice House. She was born on January 22, 1926 in Batesburg, South Carolina to Dolly Gunter and Broadus Padgett. Gladys was married to A.D. Amick, who predeceased her in 1972. Beginning in 1941, Gladys and A.D. launched the dream of a small family-owned business known as Amick Farms. Gladys, for years, maintained accounts, records and books for Amick Farms, and, because of her innate goodness, fostered the honesty, integrity and compassion that have remained paramount values throughout the history of Amick Farms. When she retired from Amick Farms, she cultivated her love of gardening, reading, painting, and playing bridge. After moving from Batesburg to White Oak Estates in Spartanburg, Gladys continued her numerous interests by hosting bridge clubs and enjoying new friendships. Gladys was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg, where she continued her lifelong endeavor to nourish and strengthen her Christian faith. Her example of living a life focused on Jesus Christ will be remembered by both her friends and family. Gladys was predeceased by her five brothers and one sister. She was also predeceased by her son, Bill Amick. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Harrison (Ben), her daughter-in-law, Linda Amick, her grandchildren, Ben Harrison, Jr. (Holly), David Amick (Jen), Angie Black (Russ), Suzanne Dantin (Jeremy), Lyndon Amick (Melanie), Sherra Brown (Kevin), her great-grandchildren, Tripp Amick, Bella Amick, Reid Harrison, Ali Harrison, Dillon Harrison, Will Black, Jay Black, RJ Dantin, Harrison Dantin, Andrew Dantin, Ansley Dantin, Billy Amick, Drake Amick, Jonas Amick and Aiden Amick and her three great-great grandchildren. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 in Travis Park Cemetery, Columbia Highway (298 Travis Avenue), Saluda, SC 29138. A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 393 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by The Rev. Joanne Hull and The Rev. Lewis Johnson. Visitation will follow in the Perrin Room.
