June Shaw Mack

May 16, 1936 - March 28, 2017

June Shaw Mack was born in Saluda County on May 16, 1936 to Junius William (June) and Sophia Coleman Shaw. She died at her home on March 28, 2017 at the age of 80, surrounded by love. June was the devoted wife of James Wesley “Jake” Mack for 41 years, who predeceased her on July 15, 1996.She was mother to James Gregory “Greg”(Sharon) Mack and Lynn Mack (David) Gardner, who survive her along with her four grandchildren Allie Padget (Trey) Shealy, Erin Renee Padget, Catherine Ivy Mack, and William Smith Mack, and one great grandson Zachariah “Riah” Tallman. She was predeceased by her parents and husband, brothers Robert and John Shaw, infant brothers Dwight and Stephen, and a sister, Brenda Shaw. June was raised in Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church, and was a devoted member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she was a tireless worker. She was a long-time employee of Saluda Shirt Company and finished her working career out at Saluda Nursing Center. Her wide circle of friends, along with her favorite nicknames, “June Bug,” “Cooter Pooter,” and “Baby June,” are testimonies to the love and wit that she shared with all who had the privilege to know her. Services will be held at Shiloh UMC, 253 Shiloh Road, Saluda, SC at 3:00pm, Thursday, March 30, 2017 with Rev. Lee Cothran and Rev. Tommy Mitchell officiating, with visitation beginning at 1:30pm at the church social hall. Memorials can be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 326 Montague Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29346 or Shiloh UMC.
