Marvelle Cromer Banks
September 3, 1917 - November 12, 2014
On November 12, 2014 family, friends and the people of Saluda County lost one of their friendliest and most loving souls, Marvelle Banks. On November 14 , 2014 a memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at the Red Bank Baptist Church at 2 p.m. followed by a reception in the church social hall. Born in Saluda County and a daughter of John Quincy Cromer and Lillian Smith Cromer, she was the wife of the late J. T. Banks for 70 years. Mrs. Banks retired from the Saluda County Health Dept. where she was the health records clerk. She had been a very active member of Red Bank Baptist Church for many years. Everyone who knew Marvelle felt her kindness. She was always trying to make someone else’s day a little more pleasant. Whether a visit, a smile or some cookies, she would go out of her way to brighten someone’s day. It was not hard to tell that Marvelle’s first love was her family. Her children, relatives, and friends knew that they were loved and could count on her. As a family they had many good times together which she truly enjoyed. Marvelle was full of love, and if you knew her, you felt it. She was a devout follower of Christ’s teachings. Marvelle is survived by her children Norma Rae (Kenneth) Jumper of Memphis, TN and Bernard (Bonnie) Banks of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her much loved grandchildren Stephen (Charlotte) Jumper of Winston-Salem, NC and Carla (David) Long of Birmingham, AL. She was also proud of her great grandchildren Karoline Jumper of Winston-Salem and Bryant Long of Birmingham, AL. Family and friends will miss her very much. She was a kind woman and a good daughter, wife and mother. Memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, 309 E. Church Street, Saluda, SC 29138 or Travis Park Cemetery Assn, Inc., P.O. Box 1174, Saluda, SC 29138.
