Stephen Russell "Rusty" Rogers

Stephen Russell "Rusty" Rogers, 54, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional after a long battle with cancer. Born in Newberry County and a son of the late Franklin Delano Rogers and Virginia Louise Quattlebaum Moore, he was the husband of Rose Mary Perry Rogers. He served in the South Carolina National Guard 122nd Engineer Company in Saluda. Rusty was a superintendent with Eagle Construction Company and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Rusty lived life to the fullest and his passion was riding and working on motorcycles and he enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rose Mary Perry Rogers, two sons, Stephen Russell Rogers, Jr. (Katie) and Joshua Adam Rogers (Kristin) both of Saluda, a sister, Pamela Rogers Perry (John Oscar) of Saluda and his two special grandchildren, Cayden Clyde Rogers and Jacob Adam Rogers, that he loved spending time with. Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Scott Rogers and two sisters, Frankie Dianne Donaldson and Jymmie Arleen Drafts. The family would like to give special thanks to Rusty's nurse, Marie with the Infusion Center and Dr. Mehta with Gibbs Cancer Center, for their kind and loving care during his illness. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday evening at Ramey Funeral . Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Jerrod Marshall and Rev. Burton Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
