Thomas Ray Reames

May 28, 1942 - February 27, 2016

Thomas Ray Reames, 73, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, February 27, 2016. Born in Johnston, S.C. and son of the late Benjamin Lake and Eloise Pou Reames, he was the husband of Connie Blease Reames. Mr. Reames was cofounder of King Academy in 1971 and served as the Headmaster for 13 years. He worked with his father-in-law at the Saluda Shirt Company, was a devoted football and baseball coach, a loyal Gamecock fan and served on the Saluda County school board for 15 years. He was the owner/operator with his son of Motor Coach since 1991 and a member and deacon of Saluda Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Connie Blease Reames; a son, Britt Reames (Tammie) of Saluda; two daughters, Libby Cromer (Chip) of Sugar Hill, Ga. and Meredith Crawford (Brandon) of Saluda; Grandchildren, Cody and Rylee Reames, Mack Cromer and Tucker Crawford; two brothers, Rev. Dr. Bill Reames (Frances) of Charlotte, NC and Jim Reames (Barbara) of Virginia and one sister, Frances King (Don) of Easley, SC along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Reames was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Reames and a sister, Sandra Reames. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at Travis Park Cemetery with Rev. Stacy Smith and Rev. Burton Campbell officiating. In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. . Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.rameyfuneralhome.com.
