William Daniel "Pete" Butler, 83, died Monday, May 25, 2020 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood. Born in Greenwood County and a son of the late Ernest Nolan "Sam" Butler, Sr. and Estelle "Ida" Leopard Butler, he was the husband of Elemeder "Nita" Rackley Butler. Mr. Butler served in the South Carolina National Guard, 122nd Engineer Company in Saluda and retired from Greenwood Mills, Adams Plant. He was a member of Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church, the Eastern Star and a lifelong mason and member of Travis Lodge # 241. Surviving are two daughters, Betty Mae B. Corley (Wayne) of Chappells and Barbara Arnold (Edward) of Pickens, a brother, Wayne Butler (Peggy) of Chappells, a sister in-law, Linda Butler of Chappells, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Butler was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Nolan "Bud" Butler, Jr. Due to Covid-19, a private funeral service will be held for the immediate family on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Buddy Cockrell and Rev. Paul Flynn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church, 785 Old Chappells Ferry Rd., Saluda, SC 29138.
