Abner Talley

Abner Alvin Talley, 87, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Hospice House of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Salem, SC and a son of the late Joseph Dyar Talley and Ada Pauline Patterson Talley, he was the husband of the late Myrna Rackley Talley. Mr. Talley retired from the South Carolina Highway Patrol. He was a member of Saluda Baptist Church and the South Carolina Troopers Association.

Surviving are a daughter, Pam Talley Clamp (Tommy) of Ware Shoals, a grandson, Grayson Clamp of Ware Shoals, a granddaughter, Tallie Clamp of Ware Shoals, a great-grandson, Asher Clamp of Ware Shoals, a special nephew, Fred Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Talley was preceded in death by six brothers, Hovie Talley, Jonah Talley, Harry Talley, Joe Talley, Lum Talley and Furman Talley and four sisters, Osie Dodgens, Mildred Chapman, Lois Holcombe and Eunice Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Saluda Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff McCartney, Rev. Mayhew West and Rev. Van Pigate officiating. Interment will follow in Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
