Ann Ella Adams
Ann Ella Mitchell Adams, died on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Saluda Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born on Friday the Thirteenth of July in 1945, in Greenwood Hospital, Mrs. Adams was the daughter of the late Edward Andrew ("Drew") and Annie Byrd Harling Mitchell of Saluda. She grew up in Saluda and graduated from Saluda High School in 1963 and Limestone College in 1967. In 1967 she was wed to Arthur Dale Adams, also of Saluda. They lived briefly in St. Louis, Florence, and then Savannah, before moving to Orangeburg, SC, where they lived for 34 years before returning in retirement in 2014 to the rural Saluda-Edgefield area.
Mrs. Adams was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Saluda County. She was interested in Southern history, especially of her own family, and was an active member of the Old Ninety-Six District DAR chapter and the Saluda County Historical Society, for which she volunteered at the museum in Saluda. She was also a member of the Garden Club of Saluda. She was retired from state service, having worked primarily in the area of developmental disabilities eligibility.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Dale Adams, of the home; two sons: Kevin Joseph Adams of Washington, DC and James Andrew Adams of Summerville, SC; a grandson, James (Drew) Adams of Goose Creek; a niece and a nephew; and several cousins. Mrs. Adams was predeceased by her parents and one brother, her only sibling, Branan Werts Mitchell of Lancaster, who died in 2002.
Visitation will be held at Good Hope Baptist Church from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 3 p. m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Good Hope Baptist Church, 6682 Greenwood Highway, Saluda, SC.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the administrators, nurses, and staff of Saluda Nursing and Rehab Center for the compassionate care provided to Ann Ella.
