Anna Nicole Matthews
Anna Nicole Matthews, 37, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Lexington County, she was the daughter of Billie Faye Hastings Matthews and the late James Harold "Mac" Matthews. Anna was a registered pharmacy technician and worked for the CVS Corporation for many years, most recently at the CVS in Newberry, SC.
Anna was a woman full of life, laughter, and love. She had a deep appreciation for the thrill of a good mystery and could often be found curled up watching her favorite crime shows. A master couponer, she turned saving money into both an art and an act of service. She didn't just stock up for herself, she used her skills to help others. What made Anna truly special was her enormous heart. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and loved. Anna was fluent in Spanish and beloved among the local Hispanic community, acting as an interpreter daily through her job and as an advocate for them at every opportunity. Always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or brighten someone's day, she lived her life with empathy and intention. Her loyalty to her loved ones was unwavering; her family and friends meant the world to her, and she showed that love in every moment spent together.
Surviving in addition to her mother, is her fiancé, John Culley Bambauer of Saluda; aunts, Mary Moon of Madison, GA, Sara Ard of Lexington, and Liz Matthews of Columbia; a dear cousin, Patti Scurry of Saluda; many beloved Hastings and Matthews cousins; nieces and nephews, Zee, Devin, Matthew and Dorothy Hite and a Brock niece, Breannah.
Anna was preceded in death by her father; her sister, Melissa Hite; paternal grandparents, Carl and Thelma Proctor Matthews; maternal grandparents, Crafton and Mary Holsomback Hastings, and four uncles: Ed Matthews; Nick, Stanley and Randy Hastings.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Myra Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
At other times the family will be at the home of her mother, Mrs. Billie Matthews.
