Obituary

Annie Eugenia “Jean” Nicholson White, 98, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born in Saluda County, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Nicholson, Sr. and Hortense Birdie Rodgers Nicholson. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Robert “Bob” White.

Throughout her working years, Mrs. White was employed with the Saluda Shirt Plant and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She was also the co-owner of N & W (Nicholson and White) Grocery and enjoyed serving as a substitute teacher at Hollywood School.

Mrs. White was a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church, where she faithfully taught Sunday School, assisted with Vacation Bible School, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the WMU. She enjoyed working outdoors and, above all, cherished the time she spent with her family. Her love, kindness, and dedication to those around her will be fondly remembered, and she will be deeply missed.

Surviving is her son, Wayne White (Liz) of Greenwood; her daughter, JeNeann Adams of Saluda; her daughters-in-law, Judy B. White of Saluda, Gerri Ferris (Harley) of Rincon, Georgia, and Libby Oberstar (Bruce) of Pickens; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. White was preceded in death by three sons, Robert Steven “Steve” White, Jon Reginald “Regie” White, and Dusty Alan White; a son-in-law, Karl Adams; two brothers, J.B. Nicholson, Jr.  and James Heyward “Red” Nicholson; and three sisters, Evelyn Owdom, Birdie Nicholson, and Carolyn Hurt.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Saluda Nursing Center and its staff, Dr. Ralph Riley, Keyonia Johnson, NP, and caregivers, Linda Edwards and Brenda Hensley for the devoted care, kindness, and compassion they showed Mrs. White.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Jerrod Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 2226 Denny Highway, Saluda, SC 29138.
