Ashby LaFonde Lindler, 87, of 133 Mt. Willing Rd., died Wednesday, October 26, 2016. He was born August 15, 1929 in Saluda County, a son of the late Ben Tillman and Leta Ridgell Lindler. He was a lifelong member of Sardis Baptist Church and a 1946 graduate of Saluda High School.
Mr. Lindler was in the farming and timber business for a number of years. He then developed a cattle farm which he expanded and operated until his retirement in 2013.
In 2001 he was named "Saluda County Cattleman of the Year." He was a former member of the Saluda County Forestry Association and served on the Saluda County Council from 1990-1994.
Surviving are two sisters, Betty Jo Bozard (Ralph) of Greenwood and Nona Clare Dunham of Fairhope, Alabama and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Lindler was preceded in death by his wife Dolly Herlong Riddle Lindler and a brother, Benjamin Lane Lindler.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Burton Campbell and Dr. Don Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
