Beatrice Gentry Yarbrough

Beatrice Gentry Yarbrough, 95, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, at Saluda Nursing Center surrounded by her family.

Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late Wesley Matthews Gentry, Sr. and Hammie Rodgers Gentry, she was the wife of the late Ronald Ross and was first married to the late William Preston Yarbrough. Mrs. Yarbrough was retired from Milliken in Saluda and was a devoted member of Butler Methodist Church. She generously gave her time as a volunteer at the Saluda Nursing Center, offering comfort and care to others in her community. At home, she found joy tending to her flowers and took great pride in cooking for her family, whom she adored deeply. Her kindness, warmth, and devotion to those she loved will be remembered always.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy Y. Mitchell (Randy Lee) of Saluda, a stepson William Day Yarbrough of Irmo, four grandchildren, Seth Mitchell (Beth) of Saluda, Lindsey Kelly (Ray) of Prosperity, Selena Long (Corey) of Newberry and Alicia Wharton (Wattie) of Lexington, six great-grandchildren and four stepchildren, Barbara Mikusek, William Ross, Joseph Ross and John Ross and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Yarbrough was preceded in death by two sons, Carl David Yarbrough and Charles Edward Yarbrough, a grandson, Jason Yarbrough, three brothers, W.M. Gentry, Jr., Curtis Gentry and Carl Gentry and a sister, Grace Harmon.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ralph Riley and Caroline Bush, N.P., for the care they have provided and to the staff and nurses of Saluda Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2025, at Butler Methodist Church with Jeff Hallman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church social hall.
