Betty Jean Mahlstedt

Betty Jean Adams Mahlstedt, 82, wife of Nickolaus H. Mahlstedt Jr. of Greenville, SC, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, March 28, 2014.

Born in Saluda County, she was the daughter of the late J.P. and Hattie Adams of Saluda, SC. She was a graduate Newberry College, a former Miss Saluda, and founder of The Piedmont Council for Prevention of Child Abuse.

Surviving are her husband and three children, Rick Mahlstedt, Lisa Henderson (David), and Jay Mahlstedt and five grandchildren, Maggie Mahlstedt, Nickolaus, A.J., Megan, and Abby Henderson.

Mrs. Mahlstedt was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2014 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Bethany Rd., Saluda, SC 29138 with Rev. Ken Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 Monday in the church.

She was a loving wife and mother and will be dearly missed.
