Betty Merchant

Betty Mae Womack Merchant, 80, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at her residence.

Born in Greenwood County and a daughter of the late James Rufus and Delta Mae Ouzts Womack, she was the wife of Clyde Theodore Merchant, Sr. Mrs. Merchant was retired from Monsanto. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and the Margaret Corwin Sunday school class.

Surviving are two sons, Clyde Theodore "Ted" Merchant, Jr. and Bennie Leopard (Julie) both of Saluda, four daughters, Sophie Miller (Joel) of Saluda, Cathy Fisher (Bobby) of Waterloo, Angelita Smith (Marty) of Abbeville and Jessica Byers (Cecil) of Saluda, a brother, Robert E. Womack of Ninety Six, six grandchildren, Kristie Leigh Owings, Alisha Merchant, Jacob Bowie, Kobe Miller, Rayna Smith and Gage Smith and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Merchant was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Womack and Howard Womack and a sister, Susan Quattlebaum.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Sunday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2017 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Beauford officiating. Interment will follow in Mayson Memorial Cemetery.
