Billy Edward Smith, 76, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Lawrence Benjamin Smith and Susie Bodie Smith, he was the husband of Sharlene Dale Maroney Smith. Mr. Smith served in the South Carolina National Guard, 122nd Engineer Company in Saluda and was a retired textile employee. He was a member of Saluda Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Sharlene Dale Maroney Smith, two daughters, Tina Brown (Ray) of Leesville and Pamela Dozier (Ardre) of Batesburg, a son, Jonathan Smith of Batesburg, two brothers, Carroll Smith of Saluda and Charles Richard Smith of Batesburg, a sister, Janice Shealy of Saluda, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Duane Smith.

A Memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Saluda Church of God with Rev. Stewart Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
