Bobby Black

Bobby Darrell Black, 86, died Sunday April 16, 2023 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born Jan. 5, 1937 in Saluda County and a son of the late Jacob Quinton and Jessie Olean Kirkland Black, he was the husband of Barbara Elaine Berry Black and was first married to the late Patsy Ann Smith Black. Mr. Black served two years in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was retired from Satterfield Construction Company having served 40 years as Executive Vice President. He also spent 18 years as an Engineering Consultant with the Saluda County Transportation Committee and was a lifelong member of Sardis Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Barbara Elaine Berry Black, a daughter, Angie B. Wilke (Kenneth) of Simpsonville, two sons, Stacey D. Black (Brandi) of Batesburg and Stephen Q. Black of Batesburg, three step-sons, Bobby L. Corley (Cindy), Dennis Corley (Selena) and Leslie Corley (Melissa) all of Batesburg, a brother, Larry Black of Batesburg, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Black was preceded in death by his first wife of 35 years, Patsy Ann Smith Black, a grandson, Drayton Wade Black and two sisters, Linda Sue Black Bedenbaugh and Audette Cockrell Feaster.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Cleve Matthews Cemetery with Rev. Michael Bell and Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
