Boyd "Terry" Duffie, III

Boyd Traywick "Terry" Duffie, III, passed away Monday, July 28, 2025, at Self Memorial Healthcare in Greenwood.

Born in Lexington county, and the son of the late Boyd Traywick "BT" Duffie, Jr. and Phoebe Forrest Duffie, he was the husband of Gloria Elaine Rodgers Duffie. A proud graduate of The Citadel, where he was a member of the Summerall Guards, Mr. Duffie went on to earn his master's degree from the University of Arkansas. He served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force, where he worked as a civil engineer. He had many assignments throughout the continental United States, as well as several remote locations, including Southeast Asia and in Johnston Island during the Vietnam Era, and one overseas assignment in England, where he and Gloria had two children. Following his military service of thirty years, he retired as a colonel, and continued his professional life with H.Z. Duffie Surveying. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, and will be remembered for his quiet strength, commitment to service, and deep love for his family, animals, and faith.

Surviving alongside his wife of 64 years are a son, Boyd Traywick "Bo" Duffie, IV, (Anne Marie) of Atlantic Beach Florida, a daughter, Pamela D. Shumaker (Billy) of Leesville, South Carolina, and two grandchildren, Boyd Traywick Duffie, V, and Quincey Josephine Duffie.

Mr. Duffie was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Duffie Rabon.

Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Burton Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
