Calvin Leon Nix, 74, died Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA.

Born in Pickens and a son of the late John Crayton and Mary Reece Nix, he was the husband of Brenda Sue Gillespie Nix. Mr. Nix was a US Army veteran staff sergeant and was owner of Calvin L. Nix Livestock.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Sue Gillespie Nix, a daughter, Kimberly N. Porter (Randall) of Saluda, a brother, Clarence Nix of Pickens, three sisters, Christine Julian of Easley, Gladys Looper of Pickens and Brenda Walker of Westminster and two grandchildren, Will Porter and Makayla Porter both of Saluda.

Mr. Nix was preceded in death by three sisters, Lois Porter, Hazel Dodgens and Lillian Holcombe.

A Memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Emory United Methodist Church with Rev. Jackie Connelly, Rev. Joey Boggs and Will Porter officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
