Carolyn Ruth Blackmon Matthews, 64, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Troy William Blackmon and Ruth Turner Blackmon. Mrs. Matthews was a former manager of National Finance in Batesburg and a caretaker.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Ann McCorkle (David Mcleod) and Carla Ruth Edward (Mark) both of Saluda, a son, William Paul Rushton (Tacothia) of Lexington, two brothers, Ramond Blackmon (Karen) and Michael Blackmon (Rhonda) both of Saluda, three sisters, Rose Marie Edwards (John) of Newberry, Judith Ann Lake (Truman) and Debra Kay Stoudemire both of Saluda, fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Blackmon.

A Graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Travis Park Cemetery with Rev. Dave Phillips and Rev. Buddy Cockrell officiating.
