Carolyn Burnett Boyd, 83, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Summit Hills Retirement Home in Spartanburg.
Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late David Pressley Burnett and Lottie Gunter Burnett, she was the wife of the late Rev. William E. "Bill" Boyd. She was a graduate of Winthrop University, received her masters of Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY and received her masters of Elementary Education from South Carolina State University. Mrs. Boyd was a former Sunbeam Director for the Florida Baptist Convention, a kindergarten teacher for over thirty years and was a talented seamstress, pianist. She loved singing in the church choir. She enjoyed spending time and traveling with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She traveled to all fifty states and many foreign countries.
Surviving are a son, Curtis Boyd (Peggi) of Gales Ferry, Conn.; a daughter, Amy B. Flynt (Andy) of Inman, SC; a step-son, Eddy Boyd (Martha) of Charleston, SC; a step-daughter, Debbie Wike (Wayne) of Laurinburg, NC; a sister, Jean Gainey (Glenn) of Lexington, SC; a brother, Donald Burnett of Columbus, Georgia; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Good Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Wike and Rev. Jeremy Beauford officiating. Interment will follow in Mayson Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
