Cecil "Red" Dozier
Cecil Wayne "Red" Dozier, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday morning, March 1, 2023 at his home.
Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Leonard Dozier and Cornelia Berry Dozier, he was the husband of the late Gloria Gene Crapps Dozier and the mom of his two girls the late, Judy Dominick. Mr. Dozier worked with Trotters Building Supply for over 25 years and was a handyman for 10 years. He was a member of Butler United Methodist Church. He was an avid rabbit hunter and a Carolina Gamecocks fan of all sports but come Friday nights he was a Saluda Tiger football fan. Mr. Dozier was known as the last Dozier of his family.
Surviving are two daughters, Anita Crowder (Donnie) of Laurens and Amy Jones (Scott) of Burnsville, NC, a step daughter, Shonda Edwards (Brad) of McCormick, three sisters, Margie Jean Minick of Saluda, Sophia Matthews (George) and Betty Warren (Wilson) both of Batesburg, three grandsons, Dylan Finley, who he called Crackerjack (Jessica), Cason Jones and Jayden Jones, five step-grandchildren, Paige Brown (Joe), Logan Edwards, Aleeah Edwards, Taylor Crowder Wilson (Tyler) and Wil Crowder (Scarlett), two great-grandchildren, Kinslee and Ellie Finley, and by his loving nine nieces and nephews.
Mr. Dozier was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Taylor, two brothers-in-law, Ralph Taylor and Dwight Minick and a nephew, Ellis Taylor.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2023 at Butler United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Huggins and Rev. Burton Campbell officiating.
