Clara Lee Hipp Caldwell, 63, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at her residence.
A native of Saluda County and a daughter of the late Heyward L. and Dorothy Lee Jones Hipp, she was the wife of James M. Caldwell, Jr. Clara graduated from Hollywood High School where she played basketball and graduated and received her Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina. She taught school at Hollywood School and Saluda Middle School and she retired after teaching Adult Education all within the Saluda County School District. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where was organist for many years, taught Sunday School and served in various capacities with the church council.
Surviving are her husband, James M. Caldwell, Jr., a daughter, Marianna of Saluda, a granddaughter, Kassadee Dorn of Saluda, two brothers, Allen H. (Joan) Hipp and Kenneth L. (Robin) Hipp both of Saluda, a sister-in-law, Carrie Pearl Caldwell of Saluda, a brother-in-law, Julian Caldwell of Saluda and nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Ken, Christy, Todd, Eric, Chad, Sam, Tab and Josh.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday December 26, 2014 at Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Thursday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.
