Rick Powell, Jr.

Clarence Frederick "Rick" Powell, Jr., 83, died Friday, January 4, 2019 at HospiceCare of the Piedmont Hospice House.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Clarence Frederick Powell, Sr. and Lila Dowd Powell, he was the husband of Emily Bernice Hare Powell. Mr. Powell served in the South Carolina National Guard. He was a former employee of Dowd Construction and was a Dairy and Beef Cattle Farmer and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Emily Bernice Hare Powell, three sons, John Michael Green of Johnston, Clarence Frederick Powell, III (Gayle) of N. Augusta and William Gregg Powell (Lisa) of Johnston, a brother, Donald Powell (Jackie) of Richmond, VA, two sisters, Dianne Hare (Bob) of Edgefield and Jane Mims of Johnston and four grandchildren, Morgan Powell, Carson Powell, Ethan Powell and Janie Powell.

Mr. Powell was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Powell.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall at the church.
