Claudean Cockrell

Claudean Bladon Cockrell, 83, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late Harvey Richard Bladon and Almettie Duffie Bladon, she was the wife of the late Bennie Claude Cockrell.

Mrs. Claudean Cockrell was retired from Greenwood Mills after 38 years. She was also a caretaker up to the time of her sickness. She was a faithful member of the Ninety-Six Congregational Holiness Church where she served as the Senior Adult Sunday School teacher, the President of the Women's Ministry for eight years, and was on the church board as secretary for 12 years. She served God to the fullest, loved everyone, never met a stranger and was always witness to others about Christ.

Surviving are her two sons, Rev. David Cockrell (Linda) and Shurmond Cockrell (Marie), two daughters, Debra Bodie (Richard) and Rev. Yvonne Taylor (and the late Byron O. Taylor), one sister, Sylvia Helms of Saluda, ten grandchildren, Bennie, Daniel and Billie Jo Cockrell, Ginny Gregory, Kim Gregory Phillips, Marie Deloache and Stewart Taylor, Kim Nicholson, Calvin Rikard and Lisa Rikard, 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. As great-grandparents, she helped raise her great-grandsons Tyler Bryan, Austin Bryan and Maliki Gregory along with her sister's two children, Shannon Mundy and Roy Witt.

Mrs. Cockrell is preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Harvey Bladon and Jimmy Bladon, and three sisters, Betty Jean Rowe, Bobbie Ann Parrish and Rickie Sue Forrest.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Ninety-Six Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. David Cockrell and Rev. Yvonne C. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Little Angels Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. All who attend are asked to follow COVID protocols and masks are required.
