Obituary

Clyde Edward DeLoach, Sr., 90 passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late James Allison and Emma Gregory DeLoach, he was the husband of the late Lucille "Shorty" DeLoach. Clyde was a US Army veteran of WWII who proudly served our country, but wanted no recognition for his service. He was married to his wife, "Shorty" for more than 50 years, and together they owned and operated DeLoach's Grocery on Johnston Hwy. He was known for growing the best tomatoes, and boiling the best peanuts. He was a kind and gentle man who had a special way with dogs and goats. He enjoyed raising minnows, and years ago, enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and rabbit hunting. He will be missed.

He is survived by a son, Clyde, Jr. "Tip" and his wife, Nancy of Saluda; a daughter, Edna D. Armstrong and her husband, Tony of Montgomery, TX. Pa also leaves to cherish his memory one grandson, Will DeLoach and his wife Sarah and granddaughters, Katie D. Mills and her husband Josh; Susie A. Tracey and her husband Greg of Charleston and Carli Metcalf of Montgomery, TX. Great-grandchildren include Hannah and Noah Mills and Carsyn and Cohen Metcalf. Surviving sisters are Mary Alice Temple and Susie Leopard. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Sunshine.

A Graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Travis Park Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Temple officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at Ramey Funeral Home.
