Curtis Gentry, Sr.

Curtis Oscar Gentry, Sr., 90, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Self Regional Healthcare.

Born in Saluda and the son of the late Wesley Matthew Gentry, Sr. and Hammie Rodgers Gentry, he was the husband of Christine Riser Gentry. He was a supervisor at Gentry's Poultry and a member of Richland Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Gentry was also a veteran of the U S Army where he was a paratrooper.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Christine Riser Gentry, four sons, Oscar Gentry, Jr (Debra), Kenny Gentry, Sr. (Sharon), Allen Gentry, Jr. and Randy Quarells (Joyce), all of Ward, one brother, W M Gentry, Jr. (Jody) of Saluda, one sister, Beatrice Ross (Ron) of Leesville, six grandchildren, Melissa Gentry (Anthony), Ashley Gantt (Kevin), Kenny Gentry, Jr. (Amy), Justin Gentry, Robbie Quarells (Kristen) Jennifer Clark (John) and Randy Quarles, Jr., 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Gentry is preceded in death by one son, Ricky Gentry, Sr., two brothers, R L Gillion and Carl Gentry, and one sister, Grace Harmon.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Prisma Health Hospice, Mary Gantt, Eva Lyles, and Pastor Charles Pollock.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Johnson Family Cemetery with Rev. Charles Bodie officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
