David Hewitt Cromley
David Hewitt Cromley, 86, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Evin Hewitt Cromley and Helen Keller Grant Cromley, he was the husband of Diane F. Cromley and was first married to the late Betty Styron Cromley. Mr. Cromley honorably retired from the South Carolina National Guard, where he served with the 122nd Engineer Company (CSE) of Saluda. He also enjoyed a dedicated career with Monsanto before retiring. Following his retirement, he pursued his passion for carpentry and worked with Shaw Construction, until his health started to decline. A man of strong faith, he was a lifelong member of Zoar Church.
Surviving are his wife, Diane F. Cromley of the home, two daughters, Melody C. Dorn (Steve) of Saluda and Laurie Meadow (Mike) of Newberry, a stepdaughter, Kendra Allison (Wayne) of Hendersonville, NC, two sisters, Dory C. Whittle and Rose C. Farmer (Jerry) both of Saluda, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cromley was preceded in death by an infant son, David Berry Cromley and a sister, Lalla Mae Lowery.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Zoar Church with Rev. James Evans officiating.
