Delora Berry

Delora Matthews Berry, 84, passed away at Lexington Medical Center on December 15, 2023.

Born in Saluda County, she was the daughter of the late Homer McNeal Matthews and Georgia Derrick Matthews and the wife of Earl Lee Berry. Mrs. Berry previously worked with the Drug and Alcohol Commission in Saluda. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church where she played the organ for 50 years and member of the WMU. She enjoyed teaching piano at her home.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Earl Lee Berry; a daughter, Debbie Hall (Randy); a son, James "Jimmy" Berry (Marchelle), both of Saluda; two grandchildren, Seth McNeal Berry and Rose Malynn Berry Gaboriau (Austin); two great-grandsons, Luke Issac Berry, Noah Jacob Berry, and a great-granddaughter on the way.

Mrs. Berry is preceded in death by three brothers: George Felder Corley, Harold Lee Corley, Cleophus Corley Jr., and seven sisters: Martha Sue Corley, Mary Lou Corley, Dora Mae Corley, Doris Cornelia Corley, Annie Myrtle Corley, Charlotte Corley, and Virginia Dare Corley.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Bell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church social hall.
