Obituary

Doris Lee "Dot" Barker Bradley, 94, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her residence.

Born July 21, 1926 in Greenville, South Carolina, she grew up exploring the hills near Saluda Hill Road in Pickens County. Foundations of her firm faith in Christ Jesus grew from family, teachers, and members of the community and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Dot was a graduate of Pickens High School, Columbia Commercial College, and Greenwood Vocational School of Nursing. She completed the UMC lay speaking program and participated in Emmaus Walk. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, choir, UMW, Antique Teenagers, WOW, and, SCFCL. She enjoyed music, laughter, crossword puzzles, and reading. She loved people, God, her mountain roots, and America.

During her lifetime she cherished titles of daughter, sister, wife, mother, grand and great-grandmother, aunt, great, great-great aunt, and friend. Her caring, giving nature reached further to include roles of volunteer/mentor at Greenwood Female Juvenile Justice Facility, Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, MYF Counselor, Sunday School teacher, Bradley House-Moving Bookkeeper, local country store manager, farmer, and Saluda Nursing Center LPN. She diligently cared for anyone she knew to be in need and "watched well over her flocks and herd."

She was predeceased by parents Vestal Barto and Bertha Almeida Leach Barker, stepmother Eva Galloway Barker of Pickens, husband J.W. Bradley, son John H. Bradley, daughter Nina M. Bradley of Saluda; siblings James Barker, Lila BR Ashe (Leroy), Angeline Fortner (Gene), V.B. Barker II of Pickens, Juanita B Sheppard (Vernon) of Ninety-Six, and Charles Barker (Arletha) of Travelers Rest. She is survived by sister Louise B Hendrix (Geroy) of Marietta, children Jean Gibson (Keith) and JW "Brother" Bradley, Jr (Vara¬), grandsons Ian Gibson (Crystal) and Luke Gibson, and great-granddaughters Ainsley, Layne, and Halle Gibson all of Saluda.

A graveside service will be held 4 PM, Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Hillary Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
