Sargent First Class Douglas Crawford , age 80, passed on to be with the Lord, Monday, Mar. 31, 2014.
Born in Savannah, GA and a son of the late George Frederick and Gladys Humphries Crawford, he was the husband of Theresia Katherina Gibfried Crawford. Mr. Crawford was a retired US Army veteran, serving as a Military Policeman and Detective and after retirement he worked in Advertising Sales. He was a member of Saluda Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Theresia Katherina Gibfried Crawford, two sons, John Robert Crawford of Saluda and Charles Dean (Lisa) Crawford of Sandy Run, two daughters, Sandra Jean Crawford of Lexington and Karen Paula Crawford of Ninety Six, two sisters, Elizabeth Porth of Mt. Pleasant and Grace Wheeler of Aiken, six grandchildren, Michael Jason Harwell, John Robert Crawford,Jr., Jacob Dean Crawford, Joshua Shane Amerson, Ciera Summer Crawford and Cayla Marie Katherina Crawford and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Shane Amerson, Jr., Chelsea Viloria Crawford and Michael Jadon Harwell.
Mr. Crawford was preceded in death by a brother, George "Fred" Crawford, a sister, Pat Kuehl and a great-grandchild, Odysseus Logan Amerson.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Friday, April 4, 2014 at Saluda Baptist Church with Rev. Van Pigate officiating. Interment will follow in West Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
