Drayton Black
Drayton Wade Black, 17, died Monday, January 27, 2020.
A native of Saluda, he was the son of Stacey Darrell and Brandi Lee Wade Black. He was a senior at Saluda High School where he played baseball, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a hard worker who was employed at Matthews Christmas Tree Farm, and held various jobs throughout the community such as building fences and working in chicken houses. His character was displayed through his hard work and dedication to anything he was involved with. His personality could light up a room, and he never met a stranger.
Surviving are his parents, Stacey Darrell and Brandi Lee Wade Black of Batesburg, a brother, Jacob Black (Casey) of Batesburg, two sisters, Kaylee and Macie Paige Black of the home, a niece, Layla Claire Black of Batesburg, paternal grandparents, Bobby Black (Barbara Elaine) of Batesburg, and a maternal grandfather, Willie Clyde Wade of Saluda.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Patsy Smith Black and maternal grandmother, Kay Willis Wade.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Saluda High School Gymnasium. There will be no formal visitation; however, there will be an opportunity to pay your respects to Drayton from 9:30 until 10:30 on Saturday morning prior to the service. Rev. Trey Shealy, Rev. Dennis Campbell and Chris Boskett will be officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery led by Rev. Lee Cothran Jr.
