Earl Berry

Earl Berry, 69, of Saluda, SC moved on to join his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 5th, 2023, with his loving wife by his side.

Earl is survived by his wife of 49 years Donna Bookhart Berry, his son Ashley (Jessica) Berry and grandson Colton and granddaughter Giuliana, granddaughter Abby (Jackson) Hutto and great-grandson Russell Hutto and brother David (Margaret) Upchurch. He also leaves behind special memories for many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, DW "Dub" Berry and Louise Berry Havird, brother Harold Berry, and sister Joan Bedenbaugh.

Earl is unique in many ways, which began at birth by his lack of a middle name. He didn't receive a middle name until 2001 when his first name became his middle as he assumed the proud full name of Papa Earl Berry. In addition to the love and pride he had for his family, he loved the outdoors and spending time with his many friends chasing deer, turkeys, quail, frogs, etc. and was even known to fish out of his car when the fish were biting in the pouring rain. Earl retired from the SCDOT as an Engineer after more than 30 years of service working in several different county offices. He was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon on multiple occasions and achieved perfect Sunday School Attendance for THIRTY-SIX years.

Flowers would be nice, but donations to his favorite charities, Connie Maxwell Children's Home, 810 Maxwell Avenue Greenwood, SC 29646, and the Salem Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child Charity, 2226 Denny Hwy, Saluda, SC 29138, would be even nicer.

The service will be held at Salem Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Friday September 8, 2023, with Rev Rod Elliott and Rev. Jerrod Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, visitation to follow in the social hall.
