Ellen Elizabeth Harmon Arant, 96, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Oakleaf Village in Lexington.

Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late Fletcher Godfrey "Bub" and Carrie Mitchell Harmon, she was the wife of the late William Benton "Ned" Arant. She graduated from Newberry College and was a 1st grade school teacher for 33 years. Mrs. Arant was a charter member of Saluda Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Fletcher Benton (Daphnie) Arant of Saluda, a son in-law, Sammy E. Crouch of Lexington, two grandchildren, Chad (Marcie L.) Arant and Elizabeth Arant and two great-grandchildren, Drew Arant and Mason Williams.

Mrs. Arant was preceded in death by a daughter, Saundra A. Crouch and a brother, F.G. Harmon.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Saluda Baptist Church with Rev. Van Pigate officiating. Interment will follow in Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
