Ellen Rae Scurry Miller
Ellen Rae Scurry Miller, 86, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Saluda Nursing Center surrounded by her family.
Born in Saluda County, and a daughter of the late Julian Ray "Jute" Scurry and Margaret Ellen Wise Scurry, she was the wife of the late Francis Allen Miller. A lifelong resident of Saluda, Mrs. Ellen attended Hollywood School, where she formed many lasting friendships and began a life rooted in kindness and service to others. She served as a funeral home assistant at Ramey Funeral Home, where she offered comfort and support to grieving families. Her work there reflected her deep care for others and her ability to provide solace during life's most difficult moments. She was a member of Saluda Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Ellen also gave her time generously to Kay's Flowers, where she helped with floral arrangements and deliveries, often brightening someone's day with a simple gesture. She was a devoted daughter, caring for her mother with love and dedication, always putting family first. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting. Whether it was sewing, or creating handmade gifts, her creativity and attention to detail shone through in everything she made. Mrs. Ellen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet acts of service, and the way she touched the lives of those around her. Her legacy of care and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Surviving are her three daughters, Jane Miller Good of Aiken, Karen Miller Fulmer (Jim) of Saluda, and Margaret Angela Miller of Atlanta, a sister, Sethalene Huff of Saluda, a son in law, Al Risinger (Bekki) of Saluda, five grandchildren, Erin Martin (Patrick), Robin Crouch (Carroll), Amanda Fulmer, Jesse Good (Alaina), and Lacey Good, eight great-grandchildren, and a lifelong friend of 70 plus years, Hannah Coleman Hallman.
Mrs. Ellen was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Miller Risinger, and a sister, Margaret Ann Cain.
Funeral service will be held 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Saluda Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Ebener officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3:30 p.m. at Ramey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at West Travis Park Cemetery.
At other times the family will be at the home of Mrs. Ellen's daughter, Karen Fulmer (Jim).
