Evelyn Davis Sawyer

Mrs. Evelyn Davis Sawyer, wife of George W. Sawyer Jr., of Saluda, died Friday, November 17, 2023 at Saluda Nursing Center.

Mrs. Evelyn was born in Norway, South Carolina, on March 7, 1936, a daughter of the late Leon Allison Davis and the late Inez Fogle Davis. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, and after graduation she was employed with Horry County Agricultural Services. She was a homemaker and was a member of Saluda Baptist Church. Mrs. Evelyn loved gardening and baking cakes.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Sawyer O'Malley (Richard) of Elgin, SC; Amy Sawyer Ely (Dennis) of Ridgeway, SC; six grandchildren, Andrea and Hannah O'Malley, Jacob, Caleb, Abby, and Luke Ely.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Jean Fogle and Nancy Riley, and one brother, Al Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Saluda Baptist Church, Saluda, with Pastor Jeff McCartney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held in the Sawyer family cemetery.
