Frances Armstrong
Frances R. Armstrong, 84, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Saluda Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Saluda and was the daughter of the late Luther Albert Rushton and Willie Mae Gillian Rushton, she was the wife of Ronald "Ron" H. Armstrong. She was a homemaker and previously had many jobs in various industries.
Mrs. Frances as a woman of simple joys and great love. She had an undeniable passion for nature, especially for tending to her garden. Her love for flowers was a daily source of happiness, and her garden bloomed with vibrant colors and lots of vegetables.
Cooking and baking were two more loves of her life. Every year, she would bake her famous poundcakes and deliver them with a smile to her closest friends. These sweet gestures of love were a reflection of her generosity, always eager to brighten someone else's day with her homemade treats.
In her younger days, she also found joy in the art of cross-stitching, creating beautiful works of art. Whether it was in the garden, kitchen, or with needle and thread, she shared her creativity and spirit with those she cared for.
Surviving alongside her husband of 36 years are two sons, Michael Singleton (Tracey) of Clemson and Noel P. Armstrong of Lake Elsinore, CA, two brothers, Jerry Rushton of Travlers Rest and Virgil Rushton of Saluda, a sister, Linda Bradley of Saluda, two grandchildren, Christopher Mapp, Jr. (Susan) and Stacey Singleton, and a great grandchild, Turner Mapp.
Mrs. Frances is preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Turner, a sister, Bobbie Jean Singletary, a brother, Willie O. Rushton and a sister in-law, Clara Rushton.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Ramey Funeral Home with Chaplin Steve Shugart officiating. Interment will follow at Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery.
