Frances Edwards Pou, 90, died August 29, 2017. She was born November 27, 1926 to Arthur James and Elizabeth Stacey Edwards in Charleston, South Carolina. A brother, James Granvill Edwards predeceased Frances. Frances was the last member of the immediate family.

Frances graduated from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. She was a lifetime educator and began her teaching career teaching at The Pittman Center in Seacreville, Tennessee. She soon got a teaching position at St. George High School in St. George, SC. It was while she was in St. George that she fell in love with Joe Pou and 8 years later they married while they were both teachers at Walterboro High School. Frances taught African children English and Social Studies and when they returned to the States, Frances served with Joe as a pastor's wife for 20 years at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 1975-1999.

They retired to the Martha Franks Home in 2000 and Joe died in 2002. Frances was a faithful and loyal wife to Joe as well as faithful and loyal to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She blessed all who knew her.

Frances leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Mary Pou of Saluda and Anna Edwards of Virginia Beach, Virginia, her brother-in-law, Heyward R. Trotter of Saluda, along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

The family wishes to thank her special caregiver, Lynn Whitmire for her care and devotion along with two special friends, Betty Coggins and Juanita Alexander.
