Geneva Hancock
Geneva Butler Hancock, 97, died Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late Pinkey Butler and Edith Norris Butler, she was the wife of the late Charlie Ernest Hancock and was first married to the late Wilbert Ethridge Horne. Mrs. Hancock was former owner and operator of Horne Store and was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Donald Horne (Cathy) of Chappells, two stepdaughters, Charlyn Staubes of Saluda and Ann Coker (Richard) of Greenwood, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by a son, Horace Bernard Horne, a stepson, Donald Hancock, three brothers, Walter Butler, Horace Butler and Hewy Butler, a sister, Bertha Easler and a granddaughter, Sheree Horne Jenkins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. William Sawyer and the staff of Saluda Nursing Center for all their care and affection.
Due to COVID-19 a private graveside service will be held 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Hillary Taylor officiating.
