George Washington Berry, Sr.

George W. Berry, Sr., 86, of Saluda died Friday, April 28th at his home. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Berry.

Born in Saluda County, he was the son of the late Sidney and Lillie Berry. He is survived by a daughter, Joanne (Tim) Crouch, sons, Lavern (Lisa), and Lamar Berry. He treasured his four grandsons, James Crouch, Martin Crouch (Kimberly), Lee Berry and Matthew Berry. He is also survived by one brother, Carlisle Berry of Saluda and a host of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sons, GW Berry and Ernest Lee Berry. He is also predeceased by 13 brothers and sisters.

George worked at Reigel Textiles of Johnston, SC for 47 ½ years. He enjoyed gardening and working in his woodshop.

Graveside services and burial will be Monday, May 1st at 11 am at Travis Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Burton Campbell. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Jordan, Paul Eargle, Alvin Berry, Zeb Shorter, Lonnie Fulmer, and Clay Fulmer. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Martin and Chad Robertson.
