George William Hopkins, 86, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his residence.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Frank Gary and Olivia Rushton Hopkins, he was the husband of Betty Toney Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a US Army veteran of the Korea Conflict and a retired self employed mechanic. He was a member of the DAV, the American Legion Post 65 and he was a former Mason and Shriner having achieved his 32nd degree and he was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Toney Hopkins , a son, George Wilbur Hopkins (Kim) of Saluda, a grandson, Hunter Hopkins and a sister, Mary Anne Crawford of Saluda.

Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by a stepson, Michael Gene Littlejohn and a brother, Frank "Bo" Hopkins.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Wednesday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at New Horizon Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Boggs, Rev. Mike Shull and Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
