George Pierce

George McArthur Pierce, 78, died Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at his residence.

Born in Berkley County and a son of the late Rev. William James Pierce and Mary Mills Pierce, he was the husband of Vicki Miller Pierce. Mr. Pierce was a retired Captain with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. He was a member of Ridge Spring Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and was a part of the Alma Sunday school class. He also was a member of Travis Lodge #241 in Saluda and the Scottish Rite Valley of Aiken and Columbia.

Surviving are his wife, Vicki Miller Pierce, two sons, George M. Pierce, II (Teresa) of Lexington and William Kelly Pierce (Elizabeth) of Bluffton, a daughter, Karen Pierce Chapman (Ken) of Prosperity, a step-son, Brenton Dwight Gilliland (Melissa) of Ward, three brothers, Lewis K. Pierce of Cordesville, William Aiken Pierce (Shirley) of Bonneau and Cecil Dwight Pierce (Pat) of Bonneau, three sisters, Pearlie Pierce Litchfield of Moncks Corner, Mary Pierce Matthews (Jack) of Moncks Corner and Alberta Pierce Johns of Bonneau, eight grandchildren, Garrett Gilliland, Carley Gilliland, Kasey Chapman, Andrew Pierce, McKenzie Pierce, Emily Pierce, Austin Pierce and Jack Pierce and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by three sisters, Ella Pierce Gaskins, Anna Pierce Williams and Cora Lee Pierce Williams and a brother, James Woodrow Pierce.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2020 at Saluda Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bobby Jackson and Rev. John Chambers officiating.
