Gloria Jean Givens Hood, 83 died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Agape Hospice House in Columbia.

Born in New Kensington, PA and a daughter of the late Louis Allen Givens, Sr. and Myrtle Ridgeway Givens, she was the wife of the late John J. Hood, Jr. Mrs. Hood was a graduate of Columbia College and was a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Rev. John J. Hood, III of Saluda and Gregory Glenn Hood of Del Rio, TN, two half-sisters, Marianna Henry of Greenville and Janice Riser of West Columbia, four grandchildren and a grandchild.

Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by two sisters, Laurice Analle Jennings Mutrie and Margaret Elizabeth Jennings and a brother, Louis Allen Givens, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Ebenezer Southern Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Aimwell Cemetery in Ridgeway, SC.
