Born in Saluda, and a son of the late Gordon Forrest "Jack" Haltiwanger and Wadine Fain Haltiwanger. He was a skilled and dedicated self-employed carpenter who took great pride in his work, always willing to lend his hands and talents wherever they were needed. A faithful member of Dry Creek Baptist Church, he lived his life grounded in his faith and guided by a spirit of kindness and service to others.

A proud veteran, Mr. Haltiwanger honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, a testament to his bravery and sacrifice. He was also a member of the VFW and remained connected to his fellow veterans throughout his life.

Known by many as someone who could "do a little bit of everything," he was a hardworking and resourceful man. Mr. Haltiwanger was also a local member of Mine Creek in Saluda, where he formed meaningful friendships and connections within the community.

Above all, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. He loved cooking hash, sharing meals, and creating moments that brought people together. He truly enjoyed life and had a way of making those around him feel valued and cared for.

Mr. Haltiwanger will be remembered as a kind and generous soul, always willing to help others and quietly look out for those in need. His legacy of love, service, and compassion will live on in all who knew him.

Surviving are three sons, Travis Haltiwanger (Alisha) of Trenton, Pierce Haltiwanger of Johnston, and Tim Crane (Katrina) of Graniteville, a brother, Forrest Haltiwanger (Hilda), two sisters, Ethel Haltiwanger and Carol McDowell (James), all of Johnston, and four grandchildren, Ayden Haltiwanger, Harley Haltiwanger, Lincoln Crane, and Charlotte Crane.
