Grady William "Jack" Black, 82, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Saluda County and a son of the late Grady Leon and Eula Leaphart Black, he was the husband of Emma Susie Rodgers Black. Mr. Black was retired from the South Carolina National Guard after serving 30 years and was a retired dairy and beef farmer. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church and the Saluda County Cattleman's Association and he was active in the Young Farmers Association.
Surviving are his wife Emma Susie Rodgers Black, three sons, Homer William Black (Robin) of Saluda, Darryl Glenn Black (Tiffany) of St. John, IN and Ronnie Keith Black of Saluda, a sister, Ruby Keisler of Lexington, three grandchildren, Jan Barr (Derek), Crystal Black and Ellen Black and four great-grandchildren, Emma Black, Alex Cochran, Adalyn Cochran and Ellison Barr.
Mr. Black was preceded in death by a son, Robert Black.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 at St. Williams Catholic Church with Father Robert Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1 until 2 p.m. on Friday at the church prior to the service.
