Jacob Garvin Chapman, 80, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late John Caleb and Ora A. Cockrell Chapman, he was the husband of Catherine Elizabeth Burnett Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a US Marine Corps veteran and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Elizabeth Burnett Chapman, a son, Garry Garvin Chapman (Jan) of Saluda, two daughters, Sherri Chapman Staudt (Douglas) of Columbia and Rhonda Kay Chapman of Saluda and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Red Bank Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Holcombe officiating. Interment will follow in West Travis Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall.
