James "Poogie" Chapman, 77, died Friday, July 27, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Saluda County and a son of the late David Lawrence and Agnes Pauline Dukes Chapman, he was the husband of Brenda Diane Burnett Chapman. Mr. Chapman was a former employee of Gentry's Poultry Company .

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Diane Burnett Chapman, two daughters, Anna Marie Miller of Saluda and Jamie Diane (John) Perry of Batesburg, a brother, Eland Chapman of Saluda, four sisters, Patricia Walker, Evelyn Derrick and Linda Marullo all of Saluda and Eline Williams of Laurens, six grandchildren, Calvin Perry, Chris Perry, Tiffany Miller, Thomas Miller, Ashley Miller and Autumn Chapman and three great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Freeman, Troy Freeman and Ariana Freeman.

Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by a son, James Eric Chapman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
