James Glenn Corley, 69, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Lexington Medical Center.
A native of Saluda County and a son of the late James Birma and Christine Perdue Corley, he was the husband of Cynthia "Cindy" Stone Corley. He was also known as "Big Hippie", "Pipe" and was called "Granddaddy Cowboy" by his grandchildren. Glenn played on the Saluda High School 1962 State Champion Football team. He was a former truck driver with Rodgers Fertilizer and was an estimator with F.D. Riley and Son. He enjoyed playing in several different card playing groups. Glenn was a member of Sardis Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher, former deacon and choir member.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Stone Corley, two daughters, Laurie Corley Seawright of Clinton and Amanda Venelle Corley of Saluda, a son, Matthew Glenn Corley (Laura) of Saluda, two step-sons, Jeffery B. Jordan (Nancy) of Saluda and Jason D. Jordan (Adri) of Greenwood, a brother, Billie Ray Corley (Kathy) of Saluda, a half-brother, Christy Farmer of Leesville, six grandchildren, Maecy Seawright (Matt), Brooks Seawright, Heidi Corley (Adam), Veronica Corley, Hamp Corley and Ella Corley, two step-grandchildren, Nyla Jordan and Natalie Jordan, a great-grandchild, Corley Burton, a nephew, Kable Corley of Saluda, a niece, DeDe Ward (Roger) of Leesville and a great-niece, Chloe Ward.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Tuesday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Don Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Cleaves Matthews Cemetery.
