Born in Edgefield, South Carolina, Mr. Dorn was the son of the late James Marvin Dorn, Sr. and Maysie Timmerman Dorn. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie Bell Dorn.
Mr. Dorn proudly served in the United States Navy and was a devoted member of McKendree Methodist Church. He was the patriarch of Hickory Hill Farm, where his love for farming, strong work ethic, and dedication to his family were evident throughout his life.

He also served as Past President of the South Carolina Electric Cooperative. Additionally, he was a member of the founding board of Edgefield Hospital. In recognition of his many contributions to the dairy industry, he was inducted into the South Carolina Dairy Hall of Fame in 2015.
Above all, Mr. Dorn loved his family. He was a hardworking man whose legacy will live on through the farm he cherished and the many lives he touched. To those who knew and loved him, he was affectionately known as "Grandaddy."
Surviving are his three sons, James Marvin "Jim" Dorn, III (Angelyn), Watson Dorn (Lisa), and Frank Dorn (Arrilla), all of Edgefield; four grandchildren, Corbin Nourse (Dan), Daniel Dorn (Darsey), Mills Dorn, and Courtney White (Cole); and five great-grandchildren, Major Douglas White, Boone Watson Dorn, Winona Marie White, Carolyn Jane Nourse, and Tilman O'Neal Dorn.
